Watching operation seaweed removal over breakfast was all very well but limited in its entertainment value. Exploration was needed, and the quest for more and better galettes complètes was on.

Being diligent and hoping to avoid a repeat of the Lannion/Perros-Guirrec scenario, I pre-googled Aire pour Camping Car Morlaix and found a spot at ///retain.luggage.dishing which was ace.
Free to park, grey water disposal, fresh water, and reasonably level. Just a few minutes walk to the town centre. Would make a nice stopover if you were that way inclined.

It’s worth pointing out that access to foreign interwebs has been rinsed on this trip, thanks to Tesco Mobile pay as you go SIMs with free roaming. If we’d have used our 3 roaming allowance, it would have cost us 28 quid each, we bought a couple of sims with 90GB between us and paid less than half. Worth remembering for future ref.

First glimpse of le viaduc was eye-popping. The picture does not convey the epic size of it right there in the middle of town.

We took a meander around the very pleasant centre ville. Loads of restaurants with terrace seating, loads of little gifty shops, and stalls and that. We decided to find an eatery, but were too early, so went for a final trot round the block, and by the time we got back everywhere, it was rammed. Lunch out is clearly a thing, even of a week day.

We ended up in La Saison des Thés, a crêperie and Salon de Thé just off the main square that was all decorated out with vintage car parts and cable rolls. We had a very nice lunch, the boy chowing down on exactly 86 moules. (It would have been 87 except the last one was shut). Cider was dispensed and desserts were shifted in a timely manner.

We enjoyed the lego shop, the Breton souvenir shop (but dint find any bols with the appropriate prénoms etched thereon) and admired aprons, salt and pepper shakers and the like.

On bypassing the main square again we found a sneaky staircase to take us up to level one of le viaduc to enjoy a stroll above the town and some silly mousie style selfies.

Walking back to the van was a roundabout, whimsical kind of scenario, making full use of the google’s walking navigation as we had ended up at the wrong end of town having crossed the viaduct like a bunch of dullards instead of walking back again.
