Dartmouth

Gorgeous day for it

No trip to this corner of South Devon is complete without a stroll around Dartmouth.

We returned to the Park & Ride that we used last time we were down this way, for a fiver and a bus trip it makes access to the town easy. Sunny day + open top bus ride = Happy campers.

Boaty

We dispensed with tradition and sat on the French style terrace outside The Embankment on the quayside to enjoy refreshments accompanied by the stereotypical accordion music – that is until the playlist was interrupted by some unexpected death metal. The little monsieur behind the bar was quite sheepish. We were amused.

Bayards Cove Fort views

19 quidsworth of pasties from Duke Street were satisfactory. We ate them in the park whilst being serenaded by a frankly cheesy crooner. 3 small children sat on the floor in front of his setup, and a seagull promptly stole their dinner. Hilarious 😂

Taxi ride

Water taxi down to the castle. Tenner there and tenner back again, but very scenic and relaxing. Ice creams were required to fortify us, £16.

Loving the water taxi

No smiles here from KB. Took a Dutch family on the return leg to coax a grin out of him on camera 😆

Dartmouth Castle

We took the path down to Sugary Cove for a scuft about in the sand. The paths and steps have clearly had to be re-routed due to bad weather causing erosion. The little platform where we previously enjoyed a picnic with R&K is now only accessible at low tide from the water by climbing up ⚠️

Sugary Cove

We made a very clumsy attempt to get in to the Sainsburys near the park and ride to buy supplies for a BBQ to enjoy on our last night before heading across the border to Cornwall…
